The Importance of Learning Foreign Languages
As many languages you know, as many times you are a man.

All over the World people learn foreign languages. As for me, it’s rather important nowardays. Some people learn languages because they need them for their work, others to travel abroad, for the third studying foreign languages is a hobby. Everyone, who knows foreign languages can speak to people from other countries, read foreign authors in the original, which makes your outlook wider.
As for me, I study English and French. It's a long and slow process that takes a lot of time and efforts. But let’s speak about English language. I study at  Lyceum that at Donetsk National University and my profile language is English. Over 300 million people speak it as a mother tongue. The native speakers of English live in Great Britain, the United States of America, Australia and New Zealand. English is one of the official languages of the United Nations Organization and other political organizations. English is a world language. It is a language of progressive science and technology, trade and cultural relations, commerce and business. It is the universal language of international aviation, shipping and sports. It is also the major language of diplomacy.
Hundreds of books, magazines and newspapers are printed in English and read all over the World. 75% of the World’ mail and 60% of the World’ telephone calls are in English. Half of the World’s scientific literature is written in English, too. The English language is a wonderful language. It is the language of the great literature. It is the language of William Shakespeare, Jonathan Swift, Walter Scott, Charles Dickens and other great authors.
The 26th of September is the day of the European Foreign Languages. My granny says: “If you know a lot of foreign languages, then you have the key from every door and every human soul.” UNESKO declared that the twenty-first century is the polyglot’s century. The motto “Let’s study languages during all our life” was published. 2001 was declared as the year of the international languages and this holiday appeared. A lot of different corporations supported this idea and Ukrainians know and celebrate this holiday.
To know foreign languages is absolutely necessary for every educated person, for every good specialist. The great German poet Goethe once said, “He, who knows no foreign language, does not know his own one”. For today, my aim is to learn as many foreign languages as possible. And, I’m sure that I’ll be a great specialist and a well-educated woman.

My first impressions of the New School Year
This year I have finished  secondary school and went to the Lyceum to get better knowledge of foreign languages. You know, it was my dream to study there.
I began to learn English at the age of six and then I really liked it! So, now, the English language has become my profile subject and I’d like to connect my future life with foreign languages.
